Taking Kids to the LA 28 Olympics and Paralympics

We’re so excited that the Olympics and Paralympics are coming to Los Angeles in 2028!

I started counting down basically when Los Angeles was awarded the Olympic and Paralympic Games (back in 2017!) I grew up in Los Angeles hearing about how great the 1984 Olympics were (I wasn’t born yet for those games), so I’ve been looking forward to taking my children in 2028 for years!

My family (unexpectedly) went to the Paris 2024 Olympics!

Then, we unexpectedly ended up attending the Paris 2024 Games — like, woke up one morning with the idea, and were on a flight to Paris the next day! You can read all about this wild adventure here.

This made me even more excited for 2028 because since we live in Southern California we’ll be able to attend so many fun things in Los Angeles… without the expense or effort of traveling from far away… and no jet lag!!

Looking ahead to LA 2028:

Thanks to our experience in Paris, we learned a lot about tips for taking children, how to get tickets, free and paid activities to do at the Olympics and Paralympics, and more.

In the meantime, I’ve already started researching things that will be specific to the LA Olympics — all the venues, the ticket process, and plan to share more as 2028 approaches!

There is an unofficial Facebook group called Los Angeles 2028 Olympics Planning and Preparation - LA28 that is full of helpful info from people who have been to many past games. If you have questions about buying tickets, are panicked about arrangements, or want to hear from people who have gone before, join that group! (You can also search the archives for info from Paris 2024, which may be helpful.)
